How to Build a Downline Fast

Regardless of the controversy that the term Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) or Network Marketing brings to mind when mentioned in a conversation, the success of such an industry cannot be denied at the moment. The long existence of multitudes of MLM organizations is a wonderful indicator that network marketing is here to stay and flourish. As such, additional people are trying to join the bandwagon, building their own MLM .

But, a lot of people are completely misguided or misinformed resulting into the collapse of several network marketing businesses. True that it is difficult to maintain multi-level marketing that could proliferate well, but undoubtedly there is one key component for a network marketing organization’s success, and that is a duplicating downline. Most people do not know how to build a duplicating downline, but hopefully with the tips to be presented, one may be able to gather a well generating force that almost immediately translates into a productive MLM business.

The people in the downline are to be trained and mentored…

So the question is: How to build a downline fast? Multi-level marketing certainly entails leadership, specifically when building a downline. Since building a downline is only another designation for the recruitment process, great people management skills is important in order for the downline to operate well, and thus duplicate. A lot of people think that network marketing is a self-generating business, but if that was the case, then no MLM organization would have had failed. Downlines certainly not duplicate on their own, even if the product being marketed is perfect. The people in the downline are to be trained and mentored well or else the business would take no direction and would lastly fall flat.

The person on top of the downline may be able to sign multitudes, but that does not guarantee duplication. Without a clear direction, the network would not expand towards success, but instead, be paralyzed. The ones on top may easily put the blame on the ones at the bottom, but who recruited the people down there anyway Managing a multi-level marketing organization entails a lot of generosity and selflessness. Duplicability is after all not just the expansion of people in number, but the duplication of the success throughout all the people in the downline.

Don’t Forget your Downline

It is a sad fact in human life that a lot of people think only for themselves. The people on top could think only of their success and see the ones under as nothing but machines to propagate the success. But that cannot happen in multi-level marketing. In order for the top to succeed, the bottom should be able to succeed as well. When building a downline, one should have a mindset that allows the success to trickle downwards, and not just to remain on top.

The founder of the network marketing organization should be very conscious that what he or she was able to do, the people in the downline could do perfectly as well. There should be no secrets within the organization for the downline to duplicate. The top line should be able to share and teach the downline the same philosophies and techniques so that the success of the top could be replicated by people in the downline.

Building a duplicating downline…

…actually means duplicating one’s self. This means that when building a downline, one does not just inform people how to sell, rather, one influences or even infects others with one whole self, well at least just the business component of one’s self. When building a downline, one has to transmit the psyche of the top to the bottom, the bottom should be able to act in the same way as the ones on top. The downline ultimately becomes one with their organizer or founder, they should be able to share the same dreams, anxieties and hopes so that the success that the ones on top experienced would be replicated by the ones on the bottom. This speaks a lot about the recruitment process itself. True that is hard to enlist exact copies of the founder, but one has to carefully enjoin individuals who have the capacity to act and think in the same wavelength as the recruiter.

In this light, the leader of a network marketing organization should reflect and see how the connection with the downline, or the prospective downline is. First one has to be sure if the people in the downline could relate with the leader and vice-versa. Duplication is unachievable without proper relation. Second, the leader should act in a way that is not so alienating to the downline, otherwise, they might think too highly of the leader that they might assume they would never be able to be like him or her. Again a duplicating downline should have a duplicable top. With this in mind, building a duplicability can be ensured as well as the success of the business.

Thank you for this amazing review. I have always thought about this building a down line thing. It has never been easy monitoring business online alone not to talk of adding down lines…I must say this is a very good review that is educative and would serve as a guide for me in creating down lines for my business… This are really helpful steps i never taught about. I agree with you that multi-level marketing could be very successful for all if you have a downline that duplicates what their sponsor does by referring more members, but unfortunately this is seldom the case.

In the perfect world, it would certainly help if the people who sponsor you also help you to get referrals for yourself. Most people don’t know how to do this and eventually give up trying. If you do any sort of MLM, you should be prepared to help those underneath you, otherwise, if they aren’t successful, you won’t be either. For this you need time, which many don’t have. If you don’t have the time for others, I recommend you rather stick to doing affiliate marketing, then you only need work for yourself.

This is indeed a very important article I must say. I’ve  been involved in some of these downline business and the toppers don’t really give much significance to us under the chain. I’m really impressed with this post, generally people tend to gain interest in a particular activity when they get maximum support. I believe if th toppers gives attention to the downline, you’ll tend to gain more downline because you as a topper wouldn’t need to do the talking and invitations, your work will do it. Thanks for sharing this amazing post.

    Hi, Fabio.
Thanks for your healthy article on building a download fast.
Being in the MLM industry I can sense the truth of active downline and how important it is.
Anything which is simple to do by ourself can be duplicated by the team. The problem starts when simple things are converted into complex things to make the system simple, but actually, it can not be replicated. Thanks for your information as it will help my downline to understand better.
    Warm Regards,
    Gaurav Gaur

I feel like MLM businesses have been given a bad reputation. The ‘over 98%’ of MLM’s fail is a worrying one. But on the other hand, I have seen several individual MLM’s succeeding with their business. Is it that they are more talented?

Your insight on training your downline is on point. I believe training and motivation of your teammates allows not only them to grow but also you, as the leader. I like the pointer on duplicating downline.

Thanks for these insights. Great article.

I saw the prospects with a multi-level marketing (MLM) when I was first introduced…with the confidence in succeeding, I jumped on the train. I started implementing the skill I learnt, got 1, 2 direct downlines and everything seemed to be flourishing from the beginning. My downlines had started replicating the process…sooner than expected things began to slow down and my team wasn’t growing.

Tried all I could to revamp my downline’s hope but only a few appeared to see a bright end and some who had made big promises to succeed in the business halted. It was very hard to start from the ground again looking at the resources I’ve invested so I finally decided it’s not for me either. Reading your article, I’m made to ask myself who made the whole thing collapse…me or my downlines? I guess it’s a question I wouldn’t have to answer because I’ve lost interest in that industry.

I couldn’t agree with you more that one has to mentor downlines but the reality is you can’t force them to do what you wished they do.

    hello Fabio :),

I always have y fears about MLM because i find it hard building a team or downline but this was helpful in explaining better how to build a downline fast.

I agree that duplicating downlines is necessary to ensure success but most people at the top of most MLMs do not do that. This is quite helpful and insightful. Something to keep in mind when next i venture into the business model

How I wudh that my upliners have read this post like three years ago, maybe I would have been a success with the mlm marketing platforms I tried my luck with but NO, they were all centred on making their personal profit. They all just want to get their fair share of the market and from my work without teaching me or mentorising me how to get my down lines too in order to keep us growing. Mlm is great but it requires dedication and serious work flow and constant communication. Thanks for this article and maybe, I would try mlm one more time

Hello there Fabio, I am one of the people who is put off be the mere mention of Multi Level Marketing, but having said that I will have to confess that I have never actually joined or been involved with any MLM platforms, so therefore my suspicions are only going on what I have heard other people saying, I am looking for ways of making money at the moment and I do like your open and honest review here, so I am going to be taking a very serious look into your recommendations and I think I may join, so I can find out for myself, thank you for sharing,

This Is a very good post I must say that I didn’t know that building a downline could be simplified. This was a problem I was having with the MLM programmes that I decided to join a while later. But it’s good how you have explained this. I would like to try that tip on duplicating downlines. Thanks for the help.

    • Fabio says:

Hi John, look… it is not really difficult to build a good downline, there are different easy methods, one of these is answer properly to the people and give good tips for example, you got it? 😉 Thanks for reading anyway. I appreciated it!!!

And about how to build a downline seems something that I would have to investigate further. Thanks for this article.

MLM downline  don’t duplicate, as sum I’m it does, many MLMs wouldn’t have collapsed. This I a really nice article, building a good downline ia not about the basics, it also entails good people management skills which will help since its part of the steps of recruitment. I’ll like to emphasis that a good human relation personality should be allowed by the founder of the network marketing organization, as you’ve stated, he should know that what he did, the people in the downline can also do it perfectly. Thanks for sharing this informative and educative post.

    • Fabio says:

That´s right, of course, if in the same organization people work with each other with the same constancy, the result would be fast for everybody. This is the reason why I think have a good downline is one of the best important things to get success!

  13. Henderson says:

Thank you for such a valuable post here on how to create a downlines fast. I think I really need to revisit those MLM scheme that I had neglected some years ago so I can try to make money on them again using this tips you have given. One thi g I know for sure is that it is not easy to keep up with business and the downlines at the Se time but I’d like to try your tips still. Thanks for the help.

  14. Stephanie says:

Woah! I wasn’t aware of this process. I didn’t even know what a downlone was. I’m actually quite surprised that from all the marketing companies/networks, none of them are talking about this and how is actually important to a bussiness. When it comes to business I think it’s really important to incorporate yourself (as you said) in the process of developing such a complex yet so important process.

  15. Scott Hinkle says:

Thank you for this excellent post!

You’re absolutely right.  Too many times I’ve seen people fail in MLM opportunities because they think “Great, I’ll get people under me and then I won’t have to do anything.  I can just make money off of their efforts.”  Sadly, this just doesn’t work.  Effort needs to be put forth.  Training, supporting and helping your downline succeed is what leads to your own success.

The sad truth is that a lot of these MLM companies taut how easy it is to make money by building the downline but they don’t necessarily address how to build the downline to be successful.

    Thanks again,

    Scott

  16. Kara says:

I am so glad you have taken the time to write this article. As you said, most don’t take the time or have the patience to really keep their downline supported and fulfilled. It seems really counterintuitive considering they are your team and you should want to help support them, especially in the MLM industry.

I really like your point that the recruiter should want to recruit people with the same level of capability to succeed as oneself. If recruiters thought of it this way before just trying to rake in all of the people they can in their downline, the MLM industry would be a lot more successful.

    Thank you for sharing!

  17. Gomer says:

I have spent more than a decade doing business in MLM. It was both sweet and bitter. Sweet, that I made a lot of money. Bitter, that my friends and I have split, not because they do not want to join but they actually join another company and we became fierce recruiting competitors.

In the MLM industry, have you heard of any company or organization that has duplicated their doing of retail sales and not the recruiting part? I think that’s the ideal kind of MLM. When the upline, the downline, and the crosslines are making money out of retail sales, and those people coming in are duplicating what the older members are doing which is making retail sales, I think the industry will really flourish. I have yet to see a company or an organization that do just that.

  18. Claudio says:

    Hello Fabio,
The truth is that I have read the wrong concepts in recent years about MLM companies. It is not well seen by many people. You explain very clearly how wrong they are.

Today I understand that you have to be well prepared and especially know how to sell the product that we are going to promote.

I think after what has been said if the product is good the MLM will allow all the lines to benefit.

    Thank you!
